The PLHS Foundation
and Alumni Association is constantly working with staff to improve
the quality of life on campus and enhance
educational opportunities for all students. There are several key
such programs currently underway. The Foundation participates in and promotes
these activities while seeking funding to see each one through:

New Music Center
Target: $1,000,000 – pledged to date, more than $500,000.
This capital improvement project is a joint venture with the school
district to convert a vacant building on campus into a state-of-the-art
facility for PLHS’s vibrant and award-winning music program.
The new facility will increase student and community access to the

Recognizing Larry Zeiger (retired PLHS teacher)
Target: $20,000
Larry Zeiger retired in June of 2007 as the longest-serving PLHS teacher
in history. He taught English and Film Studies and annually staged
an all-student original musical under the “Gotta Sing, Gotta
Dance” banner.
His many friends and former students are raising funds to recognize
his service on the campus and to establish the PLHSFAA Larry Zeiger
Scholarship Fund. Click for more

Sports and Athletic Programs (Underfunded Sports)
Target: $30,000 per year
This initiative seeks to fund interscholastic sports that are popular
but do not fall within the school’s capability to fund. These
diverse and popular sports include cross country, golf, tennis, water
polo, field hockey, basketball, soccer, wrestling, track, volleyball
and swimming. (Booster groups support other school sports and activities,
i.e.: football, baseball, band, etc.) Click

Pointer Pride Scholarships
Target: $50,000 annually
These scholarships help defray college costs for some of our best
and brightest graduates. These scholarships are funded by PLHSFAA and
administered by the PLHS Guidance Department. Click

Teacher Technology Stations
Target: $15,000
This initiative seeks to equip the final three classrooms on campus
with a 21st Century teacher technology station to permit the teachers
to project material from the internet and from classroom materials.
This will enrich the learning experience and will help make our students
more effective in the global marketplace. Click
