Each Booster Group raises funds and coordinates volunteer activities on behalf
of a specific sport or activity.
Each Booster Group operates as a subdivision of the PLHSFAA, with its own
elected officers. The PLHSFAA provides them with an opportunity to solicit
tax-deductible donations.
And their funds are banked in earmarked sub accounts by the PLHSFAA until
needed.
Funds can be spent in a variety of ways to enhance the overall student experience
within that sport or activity: clinics, tournaments, uniforms, travel, stipends
for additional coaches (within CIF and School District limits), etc.
The Booster Group Activity Director serves as liaison to the Board of Directors
for the individual Booster Groups.
In addition, because there are some sports without
a Booster Group, the PLHSFAA has established a Pointer Priorities account
for similar donations on behalf
of students engaged in these “Under-Funded Sports.” Contributions
may be made to this account, with expenditures recommended by the school’s
Athletic Director. This is for all CIF-sanctioned sports played at PLHS that
do not have a separate Booster Group.
